Duplin County Animal Shelter has 14 kennels for a county of 819 sq. miles and a population of 60,000 people with 7-10 pets/person, with many strays and owner surrenders.... There is nowhere to house all the strays and animal surrenders, nor support their care on the county budget. The shelter is too small for any grant program.   The staff search daily for a place for the animals, and try to keep everyone informed so they have an opportunity to make a difference where we cannot.
